Happy Meadows Malamutes
Our dog adventure started with a rescued pit bull from the Tacoma Animal Shelter named Pj. He stole our family's heart with his eager to learn personality and big heart.
We later adopted another pit bull. She was the runt of the litter, slept a lot and was not expected to last long; because of this we named her after Sleeping Beauty, Aurora. Pj raised Aurora to be as tough nails. Aurora has surpassed all of our expectations and is the boss of the house now.
Together they raised a 1 day old kitten together named Tamarin.
My husband always wanted an Alaskan Malamute but I told him we needed to wait until we moved to a house with a larger property. After moving to Mud Mountain, we happened to be driving around the area and saw a big banner for Alaskan Malamute puppies! It seemed like fate and soon after Tikaani and Bruno came home with us. Aurora and Pj raised these puppies as well.
Some where along the way we lost Pj to an unfortunate accident. That was a really rough loss for the family but we feel like his spirit carried on through the last 3 puppies he raised.
I fell in love with the Malamute breed and was convinced pretty quickly that I was going to need four more to pull me around in a cart! We decided that we would get through the puppy stage and wait for Tikaani and Bruno to be two years old.
So along came Amarok and Quartz! At this point we had five dogs; the most amazing madness! Although Rocky and Q became a great addition to the family, I still had my mind set on a total of six Malamutes some day. For a little back story, I had tried many, many times to adopt Alaskan Malamutes only to be turned down for some pretty ridiculous reasons.
One miraculous day I saw that our Malamute breeder was thinking of selling her pack so she could retire and travel. What I passed off to my husband as sort of a joke (to take on four more dogs) he was immediately convinced that it was going to happen. After speaking to Debra about the breeding dogs and her gracious patience with us to have a proper run built; we are now proudly raising pedigree Alaskan Malamutes! We now have Misha (Tikaani and Bruno's retired mother). Wynter and Jackson (Rocky and Q's parents). Finally, Sasha, is another female that has stolen my heart with her playful spirit. This brings our total to nine dogs! Hahaha, welcome to Mud Mountain Madness...
